I opened my eyes and realised I was floating above my bed

My Story: When I was about 6 or 7 years old. I went to bed one night and closed my eyes. I remember this dream I had because it was the last thing I imagined before my experience. I was flying. No I didn't turn into a bird first but I was just flying in the sky. I woke up in the middle of the night and when I opened my eyes i couldn't see anything but a bright light that completely engulfed my entire room. The light faded after about 5 seconds and when it did I realized that I was floating above my bed. As soon as the light faded I slowly floated back down to my bed at a very slow pace. The entire time I couldn't move at all and when I was back in my bed, I only closed my eyes and went back to sleep. I know this was not a dream because I was awake with my eyes open and breathing and felt floating back down to my bed. I have no idea what this could have been and I was hoping someone could tell me if anyone can tell me what this experience was I would very much appreciate it.

This sounds like a classic OBE or Out Of Body Experience, this is where the spirit part of you leaves the body for a short time as if your physical body is just a container. Many people claim to be able to do this at will and travel anywhere they wish, Im not so sure about that claim however. As a young child I had a similar experience, I was very poorly at the time .
